I spent hours and hours as a kid at Tower Records, the downtown location as well as the one near where my dad lived on the Upper West Side (the one featured in Hannah and Her Sisters where Woody runs into Dianne Wiest). My 8th grader science teacher used to give me dough to buy him 45s. Those stores were a music lovers paradise.

Hell, I didn't even know it was a California chain until years later. And I got a chance to visit their store in Hollywood before it closed.
